Truck Driver Fatigue in New Hampshire
Let Our Experienced Legal Team Recover Your Entitled Compensation
One of the most common causes of truck accidents in the United States is fatigue. To combat feeling tired on the road, commercial truckers have an obligation to adhere to the federal rules for hours of service, while trucking companies are responsible for making sure that their drivers follow these regulations. Unfortunately, companies and drivers alike continuously – sometimes, purposefully – violate protocol in order to meet deadlines and save money.
At the Injury Law Center®, we can review your case and determine all of your available legal options to obtain financial compensation for your injuries. With tens of millions of dollars recovered in verdicts and settlements on behalf of our client, our New Hampshire personal injury attorneys understand what it takes to get the most favorable results possible for you.
Federal Regulations for Trucker Service Hours
Driver fatigue often occurs due to long shifts and monotonous road trips. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) established rules which limit the number of hours driven on the road to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities involving commercial trucks.
Federal hours of service rules include:
- Truck drivers are allowed to work up to 14 hours a day
- Truck drivers can only drive 11 hours out of the 14-hour day
- Truck drivers can only drive 70 hours a week
- Truck driver need to take 24 hours of rest to continue working after completing the weekly limit
- Truck drivers must take a 30-minute break at some point after the first seven hours of a shift
To prove if a truck driver violated any of these rules, you can obtain a copy of the trucker’s logs. In case information may be missing, you can review “trip tickets” by third parties.
